OVERVIEW

This is a 7 or 14 day painting holiday on the beautiful Greek island of Corfu,  The holiday will be in two locations - the first week will be spent in the quieter and more rural South, based in the beautiful remote area of Notos. The second week will be spent enjoying the dramatic scenery of the North, based in Dassia.  This holiday offers the option of staying for both weeks, or just choosing one of the two weeks.   The daily excursions will be with private transport visting some of the most beautiful painting spots, carefully chosen to give a wide variety of subjects and an opportunity to see places off the beaten track.  Go to the Programme for more details regarding the daily schedule.

A deposit of £200 will be required at the time of booking.   All participants will be asked to book their own flights (see below) and travel insurance.  The earlier the flight booking the cheaper the price.    If coming from another destination please contact Linda before booking.

On arrival in Corfu, you will be met at the airport by Linda and accompanied in a private bus or taxi to the accomodation..  

LOCATIONS

The varied locations offer different approaches to painting and a general discussion will be held prior to each session.  We will address composition, colour and 

texture, as well as various techniques 

according to the medium being employed.

 

 Once we start painting, individual tuition will be given.  We will also look at photographic composition to help with the Photo Challenge.

ACCOMMODATION

The first week will be in the South of Corfu and the second week will be in the North.

 

For the first week we will be at the Panorama Apartments in Notos, in the south of the island.  All the apartments have a sea view, and a small kitchenette and private bathroom. A lovely Greek breakfast is included every morning..  Panorama Apartments and the nearby taverna are run by one lovely big Greek family - wonderful, kind and so hospitable!

The second week we will be at the St. Nicholas Beach Apartments in Dassia, in the north of Corfu.  We will have studio apartments near the sea, with a private swimming jetty just beyond the swimming pool.  Accommodation here is fresh and clean, each studio has a small kitchen area and private bathroom.  

PROGRAMME

We will be going out to visit various sights on the island, some popular and some off the beaten track.   Most of the days we will have the wonderful Spiros driving us to our destinations in his bus.  The Greek people are so friendly and hospitable and Spiros is no exception!  

 

WEEK ONE

WED 9 MAY      An AHA welcome at the airport and private

13:10                   bus to our accommodation in Notos.  Meet 

                            in the family taverna for a welcome

                            evening meal.

 

THU 10 MAY      Spend the day in Notos, painting in the

10.00-18.30        beautiful landscaped gardens of the                                         taverma, or in the local village.

 

FRI 11 MAY        An early start to catch the boat to Paxos, 08.00-21.30       the small island off the southern tip of                                       Corfu.  On our return, relax on St. George's

                            beach before going for dinner and Greek

                            dancing at a local restaurant.

 

SAT 12 MAY      A day painting at Bioporos Organic Farm, 10.00-18.30       where our lovely hosts Agathi and Kostas

                           will entertain us with a fabulous meal and 

                            a bread-making demonstratioin.

 

SUN 13 MAY     A peaceful day, painting in Notos.

08.00-17.30       

 

MON 14 MAY    Private bus to the Achilleion Palace, where

09.30-15.30       Prince Philip was born.  We will be able to 

                            paint outside in the gardens, with far                                         reaching views, or views of the palace with                             the fabulous statues of Achilles and the                                   muses.

 

TUE 15 MAY      Private bus to the hilltop village of                  10.30-16.30       Chlomos, with many quaint village            19.00-23.00      scenes to paint.  In the evening we will                                     have a farewell dinner at the excellent                                     restaurant Vraganiotika.

WED 16 MAY    Depart for Corfu airport and our                                                   accommodation in Dassia.  Time to be                                     advised, depending on which flights

                            have been booked. 

                          

WEEK TWO

WED 16 MAY   An AHA welcome at the airport and private

 13:10                 bus to our accommodation in Dassia.  Go

                           out for a welcome meal in the evening.

 

THU 17 MAY    Private bus to Corfu Town for a guided tour.

10.00-18.30      Then free time to sketch and shop.

 

FRI 18 MAY       Private bus to Paleokastritsa with coffee 

10,00-18.30      overlooking the fabulous view.  Then go

                           down into Paleokastritsa for painting by

                           the sea (and a swim if you fancy it!)

 

SAT 19 MAY      Private bus to Sinarades for a day painting   10.00-18.30       in a this picturesque village and an 

                           opportunity to visit their Folklore Museum.

 

SUN 20 MAY    Private bus to visit Gerald Durrell's White     10.00-18.30      House by the sea in Kalami.  Spend the day

                           painting at the taverna there.

                  

MON 21 MAY   Private bus to Perithia, one of the oldest 10.00-18.30      villages in Corfu, with beautiful views, pretty

                           scenes to paint, tumbledown buildings and

                           lovely tavernas.

 

TUE 22 MAY     Private bus to Kassiopi, a picturesque little 

11.30-21.30        port.  Spend the day painting, with a chance

                           to do a little souvenir shopping too.  We will

                           remain in Kassiopi for our farewell evening

                           meal, before returning to Dassia.

WED 23 MAY    Private bus to the airport.

All costs are based on one person travelling alone, there is no single supplement.  However a discount is available if you wish to share a room with a friend/partner.  This varies according to the holiday, please contact Linda for further information.  A deposit of £200 is required to secure booking.

FLIGHTS

Flight information is from London airports.  If you are travelling from a different part of the UK, or a different country altogether, please specify this at the time of booking, so that, where possible, alternative arrangements can be made to meet you at the airport.

WEEK ONE:

 

British Airways do not fly to Corfu on Wednesday 9th May, so please book your outward journey with EasyJet, leaving from either Luton or Gatwick. 

You can choose to return with easyJet, or British Airways to London Heathrow on 16th May, prices are not too dissimilar and British Airways allows for a more leisurely departure time.   If you would like any further information or advice please call Linda on 07738 707007.   When you have booked your flights please let us know.  Here are your options:
